Hello WikiSysop - This is Dragonlove (Pam) I would like for you to unprotect my personal Dragonlove discussion page - someone has put garbage links on it and locked me out so that I cannot remove it. We have had a big problem with link spammers. I don't know how they found this page, but for a while it was one of their favorites, along with every page linked from the main page. And it took us a while to figure out the tricks they were playing in hiding their links from view, so we just had to protect everything. I think we can do better now if we stay alert. Anyway, I'll unprotect the Help page and I would appreciate you adding your tips there. Thanks for your help. --WikiSysop 10:29, 1 February 2006 (PST)

Basically, I did a search on one of the link texts & activated it to search all of the name spaces.
This link http://www.gripewiki.com/index.php/Special:Search?ns1=1&ns2=1&ns3=1&ns4=1&ns5=1&ns6=1&ns7=1&ns10=1&ns11=1&ns12=1&ns13=1&ns14=1&ns15=1&search=http%3A%2F%2F&searchx=Search Gives you all non-main pages that have http links. There were two more with spam text, but they were editable, so I fixed them myself.
[Find http links] <-- this search will find all links (http) in the whole namespace and you can keep an eye out for bogus spam links using it.

Hey, if you want another set of eyes to help you fix things, protect, and unprotect pages, resolve redirects, etc., I would be willing to be a sysop for you. However, I can certainly understand if you want to keep things tightly under control. Either way, it won't affect my posting on the Wiki. If you do want me to help sysop, I can try to watch the edits (Recent changes) several times a week & correct the spam thingies. (Even if you've protected the page.) The Odd thing
The really odd thing to me about the FEULA talk page that keeps getting spammed is that the silly page isn't even linked from anywhere... There is no way to get from the main page to the FEULA page without doing a search on it. No other pages link to it... so why in the world does it keep getting picked for the garbage? Very odd to me.
